of Nokounam Session 1410
The Holy Quran, akin to a celestial light, opens the path of guidance for humankind and, with exalted discourse, summons humanity towards the truth of existence and divine knowledge. The third verse of Surah l Imrn, which serves as the focal point of this treatise, reveals with profound eloquence the grandeur of the Lord and the authenticity of divine revelation against the unjust accusations of the Prophets (peace be upon him) contemporaries. This discourse, utilising the teachings of religious scholars, examines the distinction between divine revelation and earthly sorcery, and with a critical perspective on the condition of contemporary societies, proposes remedies for a return to faith and sincerity. The objective of this writing is not merely to elucidate Quranic meanings, but to invite contemplation on the spiritual and ethical challenges of human communities, hoping that the reader, enlightened by this divine word, may reconsider their own path.
Your Lord is indeed Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Throne, managing all affairs. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord; therefore, worship Him. Will you not then take heed?
This verse, like a clear mirror, reflects the grandeur of the Lord in His role as Creator and Sustainer of existence, and through the invitation to worship, calls humanity to contemplate the divine reality and abstain from error. The accusation of sorcery against revelation, raised by the Prophets contemporaries, is refuted in this verse through emphasis on Gods power and wisdom, thereby laying the true path of worship before mankind.
The third verse of Surah l Imrn was revealed in response to those who attributed divine revelation to sorcery and branded the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a sorcerer. This accusation stems from humanitys incapacity to comprehend the exalted divine discourse. The Holy Quran, like an infinite ocean, contains profound meanings whose full understanding is possible only through divine knowledge. This verse, by clarifying the status of God as Creator and Manager, underscores the authenticity of revelation and negates any resemblance to earthly sorcery.
Revelation, like a divine breeze, descends from the Throne towards the earth and illuminates the hearts of the Prophets and the Godly. This exalted flow originates from the infinite wisdom of the Lord and requires no human effort or endeavour. Revelation, akin to a light that pierces the darkness of ignorance, guides humanity towards truth. Conversely, sorcery is an earthly phenomenon born of human exertions that, in many instances, leads not to guidance but to misguidance and deviation.
Sorcery, like a shadow upon the earth, stems from human endeavours and, in many societies, has become an instrument of deception and misguidance. In global markets, from Turkey to America, sorcery tools and magical paraphernalia are abundant, indicating humanitys inclination towards earthly matters and estrangement from divine knowledge. These instruments, though seemingly effective superficially, are powerless and ineffectual before faith and sincerity, akin to straw before the wind.
Religious scholars observations of sorcery markets in various countries testify to the expansion of this phenomenon in the contemporary world. In Turkey, extensive bazaars with multiple layers, filled with sorcery tools such as sand divination (raml) and astrolabes, reveal the depth of this tendency. In America, this culture is even more widespread, with sorcery implements becoming part of everyday life in some communities. This prevalence signifies a spiritual void in modern societies that, instead of seeking truth, resort to superstition and sorcery.
Faith, like a firm shield, protects humans against the influences of sorcery and magic. Experiences of religious scholars demonstrate that sorcerers, despite all their claims and tools, are powerless against a person endowed with faith and sincerity. In a narration, a religious scholar confronted a sorcerer claiming influence; after many efforts, the sorcerer confessed his inability. This experience recalls the story of Moses (peace be upon him) and Pharaohs magicians, where divine truth prevailed over sorcery.
Science, as an external shell, sometimes becomes an instrument of destruction and crime, whereas knowledge, as an inner gem, guides humanity towards truth and guidance. Empirical science, if separated from divine knowledge, leads to the production of destructive tools such as weapons and bombs, resulting in war and devastation. In contrast, divine knowledge, which stems from revelation, guides humans towards worship and sincerity.
Religious science, which has sometimes been reduced to mechanical repetition and soulless imitation, has been emptied of the depth and divine knowledge. This science, which in some cases leads to misguidance instead of guidance, requires reconsideration and connection with divine knowledge. Religious scholars emphasise that knowledge, unlike apparent science, is a reality originating from divine revelation that guides humans towards truth.
The sacred cities, once centres of faith and sincerity, are today exposed to moral decline. Observations of religious scholars in cities such as Karbala indicate the expansion of corruption and estrangement from religious values. This decline, like a warning bell, calls Islamic societies to reconsider their faith and sincerity.
In a narration, a religious scholar recounts his experience in Karbala, where corruption and obscenity prevailed instead of spirituality. These observations serve as a warning to Islamic communities that estrangement from faith and sincerity results in spiritual and moral decay. The Holy Quran, through invitation to worship and remembrance, demonstrates the path to salvation from this decline.
Faith and sincerity, like a blazing torch, have historically brought great victories to Muslims. In battles such as Tangestan, Muslims, despite limited means, overcame technologically superior enemies due to sincerity in action. These victories recall the spiritual power of faith against material forces.
Sincere worship, like a golden key, opens the doors of divine mercy and frees humans from the snares of superstition and sorcery. Two units of sincere prayer, as historically manifested in the splitting of the moon for the Prophet (peace be upon him), can create great miracles. This invitation, aligned with the third verse of Surah l Imrn, summons humanity to worship God and abstain from misguidance.
The third verse of Surah l Imrn, like a lantern in the darkness, reveals the divine truth against the unjust accusations of the Prophets contemporaries. This verse elucidates the grandeur of the Lord and the authenticity of revelation, inviting humanity to worship and remembrance. The lectures of religious scholars, emphasising the distinction between divine revelation and earthly sorcery, critically address the spiritual decline of societies and demonstrate the path to return to faith and sincerity. A profound understanding of the Holy Quran requires divine knowledge and distancing from purely material science. Sincere worship, as a steadfast bridge, guides humans towards truth and liberates them from the traps of superstition and decline. This treatise, hopeful for the revival of faith and spirituality in Islamic societies, invites the reader to reflect upon and act according to this divine word.
