of Nokounam, (Session 1498)
The discourse concerning the confrontation between truth and deception, akin to the dance of light and shadow upon the canvas of existence, has long engrossed the human mind. The verses of Surah Al-Imran, with a focus on the narrative of Moses (peace be upon him) and Aaron (peace be upon him) confronting Pharaoh, open a window towards understanding this ancient struggle. This treatise, through a profound examination of verses 76 and 77 of Surah Al-Imran, delves into concepts such as magic, the influence of the nurturing environment, and the role of awareness against deception. What follows is an endeavour to represent these concepts in an organised manner, employing a language that, like a clear brook, guides deep meanings to the reader.
فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ عِنْدِنَا قَالُوا إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ
So when the truth came to them from Us, they said: Indeed, this is clear magic.
Then We sent after them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our signs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a criminal people.
The aforementioned verses, like a mirror, reflect the confrontation between divine truth and human deception. Pharaohs magicians, in the face of the miracles of Moses (peace be upon him), employed magic to distort the truth. This conflict, delicately portrayed in the Holy Quran, demonstrates the impotence of magic against divine power. Magic, like a deceptive mirage, only beguiles minds momentarily, but in the presence of the light of truth, it vanishes as a mere shadow.
Verses 76 and 77 of Surah Al-Imran, by referencing magic and the arrogance of Pharaohs people, underscore the importance of discerning truth from deception. These verses invite the reader to contemplate divine power and the ineffectiveness of human tools against it.
The Holy Quran states in verse 7 of Surah Al-Qasas: وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ (And We inspired the mother of Moses that she should nurse him). The upbringing of Moses (peace be upon him) within Pharaohs court, which was rife with magic, wine, and arrogance, presented a great challenge along his prophetic path. This environment, like a furnace of trial, tempered the faith of Moses (peace be upon him). The emotional bond between Moses (peace be upon him) and Pharaoh, described as akin to a father-son relationship, reveals the emotional complexities of this encounter. Nonetheless, divine guidance preserved Moses (peace be upon him) from the adverse effects of this milieu.
It has been stated that the upbringing of Moses (peace be upon him) in Pharaohs court led to the spread of magic and wine throughout the world. This statement acts as a prompt, encouraging reflection on the impact of environment on human behaviour. In the Holy Quran, wine is introduced as a factor of deviation: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ (O you who believe, indeed, intoxicants and gambling are abominations from the work of Satan). Pharaohs court, like a centre of corruptions, provided a platform for promoting these vices.
The upbringing of Moses (peace be upon him) in Pharaohs court offers profound lessons concerning the influence of environment and the triumph of faith over deception. This section demonstrated that while environment can create challenges, divine guidance leads humans toward truth.
The contemporary world is divided into two segments: societies where magic is accompanied by advanced and influen
