Surah Al-Isra, like a radiant jewel in the constellation of the Divine Revelation, speaks of the secrets of human existence and its spiritual authority. This Surah, whose verses descended like a light from the Divine Throne upon the heart of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him), unveils the truth of divine protection and human psychological faculties. In this treatise, relying on selected verses of this Surah, a mystical journey commences towards understanding the lofty stations of humanity and the unparalleled role of the Holy Quran in guidance and healing. This work, with a profound insight into Quranic teachings, seeks to elucidate humanitys position as a being endowed with intrinsic dignity and the ability to dominate the particles of existence, and to provide methodologies for reviving divine sciences within seminaries. What lies before you is a window towards understanding spiritual power, purity of the soul, and divine protection which, like a clear spring, quenches the thirsting souls for truth.
"And when you recite the Quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed veil. And We place over their hearts coverings lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn back in aversion." (17:4546)
Verses 45 and 46 of Surah Al-Isra, like a glowing torch, unveil the system of divine protection. The "concealed veil" in verse 45 signifies a divine shield that safeguards the Prophet (peace be upon him) from the harm of adversaries. This veil sometimes manifests as divine power that intimidates enemies, sometimes as a perceptual barrier preventing them from comprehending the Prophets presence, and at times as a destructive force that disrupts the thoughts and psyche of the disbelievers. This protection is not of ordinary or natural causes (general causality) but belongs to a specific divine causation accomplished through divine providence and unseen forces such as angels. Verse 46, referring to coverings upon hearts and deafness in ears, speaks of a divine destruction that prevents the disbelievers from understanding the truth of the Holy Quran. This destruction is like a storm that shatters the foundations of falsehood and prevents harm to the Messenger of God.
These verses reflect a truth that God has established a unique protective system for every creature, be it human, animal, or even inanimate objects. This system, like a merciful shadow, envelops creatures and guards them with divine gentleness and might. Seminaries must revive this Quranic truth and guide students towards comprehending this protective system through teaching divine sciences.
Verses 45 and 46, like stars in the firmament of knowledge, speak about divine protection and the destruction of enemies. These verses emphasise the unique role of the Holy Quran in creating a spiritual shield and influencing souls. Seminaries must revive these teachings to educate scholars who, relying on Quranic power, can withstand modern challenges.
"And they say, 'When we have become bones and crumbled fragments, will we indeed be resurrected as a new creation?' Say, 'Be you stones or iron.'" (17:49)
Verse 49, like a gem in the Quranic shell, speaks of the boundless power of God in creation and the dominion over particles. This verse challenges the disbelievers who doubt the possibility of resurrection and proclaims the divine authority with the command "Be you stones or iron." This power is not limited to the re-creation of humans but is manifest in the dominion over particles and creatures. Through purification of the soul and connection to divine power, humans can attain stations where, without reliance on material tools, they dominate particles. This station, akin to a lofty peak, is accessible to those who have purified their souls from impurities and adorned themselves with the light of knowledge.
This verse is an invitation to revive the sciences of domination within seminaries. Divine sciences, flowing like a clear spring from the Holy Quran, must be incorporated into the curriculum so that students may acquire spiritual authority.
Verse 49, like a luminous torch, opens the path towards human spiritual authority. It speaks of human capability in dominion over particles and invites seminaries to revive these sciences. Training scholars who, relying on Quranic knowledge, achieve high spiritual stations is an indispensable necessity.
"And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces discord among them. Indeed, Satan is an enemy to mankind manifest." (17:53)
Verse 53, like a clear mirror, speaks about the danger of satanic interference and the necessity of soul purification. The term "induce discord" resembles interference or static that Satan implants into the human soul, causing illusion, disturbance, and madness that destabilises the psyche. A weak soul is as vulnerable as an autumn leaf before the wind, while a pure and steadfast soul is like a solid rock, protected from Satans dominion. This verse invites humans to speak kindly and purify their souls to remain safe from this manifest enemy.
Seminaries must prioritise instruction in soul purification. The soul, like fertile soil, requires care and cultivation to bear the fruits of authority and knowledge.
"Indeed, My servants no authority will you have over them, and sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs." (17:65)
Verse 65, like a shining star, speaks of the immunity of Gods sincere servants. These servants, who have polished their souls with knowledge and purification, are protected from Satans dominion. God, as a perceptive Guardian, watches over them and protects them from the harm of enemies. This immunity is a gem attained through soul purity and connection to the Truth.
Seminaries must guide students toward this station so that, through soul purification, they attain spiritual authority and remain safe from Satans harm.
