This treatise is a profound and systematic study in the exalted Qur'anic teachings, which, through deep contemplation on the Divine verses, elucidates their sublime concepts. The present work, drawing upon the Holy Qur'an and narrations, explores the spiritual, ethical, and social dimensions of Divine instructions. Its structure is designed to preserve the authenticity of the content while presenting the concepts in a scientific and academic framework in a coherent and lucid manner for erudite audiences. Each section is dedicated to examining one or a collection of verses and, through precise analyses and semantic connections, enriches the intellectual and epistemological depth of the reader. The purpose of this work is not merely to clarify the apparent meanings of the verses but to uncover deeper layers and the hidden mysteries within the Divine speech, which are presented to the reader through lofty allegories and metaphors.
This section, linked to previous discussions on patience and sincerity, examines the status of Prophet Job (peace be upon him) as a paragon of endurance and answered supplication.
وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Translation: And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
(Surah Al-Anbiy, verse 83)
This verse, like a torch shining in darkness, depicts the unparalleled patience of Prophet Job (peace be upon him) in the face of countless afflictions and hardships. Job, a great prophet from God, was confronted with numerous trials in the path of inviting to the true religion. What distinguishes him is his unwavering attention to his Lord at the peak of adversities. Like a steadfast tree against the storm, he never neglected remembrance of God and, in utmost suffering, merely expressed to the Divine presence that harm had befallen him. God, who always chooses the able as prophets, endowed Job with unparalleled patience, which made him the sovereign of acceptance. This verse, following another, alludes to the response to Jobs supplication:
فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِ مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَآتَيْنَاهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا وَذِكْرَى لِلْعَابِدِينَ
Translation: So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We restored his family to him and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers.
(Surah Al-Anbiy, verse 84)
This verse demonstrates that God not only relieved Jobs suffering but also returned his family to him and granted him their likeness alongside them. This honour, like rain watering dry land, manifested Divine mercy upon Job and became a lesson for the worshippers. Jobs ability to endure afflictions, juxtaposed with Solomons ability to endure wealth and power, illustrates two facets of Divine might. Job, with his patience, like a firm mountain, was subjected to the sphere of Divine conquest, and his supplication was promptly accepted.
This section examined the unparalleled patience of Prophet Job (peace be upon him) before adversities and the acceptance of his supplication as a sign of Divine mercy, demonstrating that endurance in trials leads one to nearness and acceptance by God.
This section, linked to prior discussions on the authority of prophets, investigates the spiritual and material perfections of Prophet David (peace be upon him) and his role in subjugating nature.
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ مِنَّا فَضْلًا يَا جِبَالُ أَوِّبِي مَعَهُ وَالطَّيْرَ وَأَلَنَّا لَهُ الْحَدِيدَ
Translation: And We certainly gave David from Us bounty. [We said], O mountains, repeat [Our] praises with him, and the birds [as well]. And We softened the iron for him.
(Surah Saba, verse 10)
This verse, like a mirror reflecting Divine grandeur, speaks of the perfections of Prophet David (peace be upon him). God, with emphasis (وَلَقَدْ), granted David an unparalleled favour. He, like a melodist who compels nature to glorify God, brought the mountains and birds into harmony with his invocation. This harmony, occurring between heterogeneous entities such as mountains and birds, is a sign of Davids spiritual power that can unify diversity. Furthermore, the softening of iron for him, like a flower shaped by a potters hand, indicates his capability in mastering material realms. Another verse describes this authority as follows:
وَالطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً كُلٌّ لَهُ أَوَّابٌ
Translation: And [We subjected] the birds, assembled, all turning to him.
(Surah ad, verse 19)
This verse illustrates Davids spiritual power in attracting birds and their synchrony with his enchanting voice. By his spiritual authority, he not only tamed nature but also, through the craft of iron smelting, opened the path for human growth and development. These perfections, like stars in the sky of prophecy, illuminate the path to felicity.
This section examined the perfections of Prophet David (peace be upon him) in mastering nature and guiding heterogeneous phenomena to glorify God, showing that his spiritual and material authority serves as a model for human growth and development.
This section, connected to previous discussions on prophetic authority, examines Prophet Solomons (peace be upon him) power in subjugating the jinn and utilising them in Divine industries.
